Unang Hirit Sponsors Valenzuela’s Kasalang Barangay 2012

Rationale

This is informative and descriptive local news which I composed about the Kasalang Barangay ng Marulas last February 14, 2012 at Museo Valenzuela, Barangay Marulas. This article will give readers some facts, details and information about the events at the Mass Wedding.

I interviewed a newly-wed couple, Valenzuela District II Councilors, Unang Hirit Staff, and Mayor Sherwin Gathalian. I also took pictures using my cell phone. My news story relates how Unang Hirit covered the whole event and sponsored everything in the mass wedding.
The type of news story that I have utilized is straight news as it depends on vividness and up-to-date facts for readers’ interest. The Inverted Pyramid is a distinctive aspect of the straight news story. The first paragraph of this news story would be thought-provoking for readers as I convey the 5 Ws (who, what, when, where, why) and how making it brief and concise and further convey the story.

The goal of this news story is to provide knowledge and information with accuracy and usefulness for the readers.

Personally, it was an exciting experience for me to write a news story such as this and I believe that one of the beneficiaries will be the Valenzuelanos, especially the couples who joined the nuptials.

I am writing this for the Philippine Star newspaper. I studied their outline and I hope it will capture my readers’ attention.

Unang Hirit Sponsors Valenzuela’s Kasalang Barangay 2012

Valenzuela City, Philippines – Kasalang Barangay ng Marulas was aired live on the GMA 7 morning show, Unang Hirit. Susan Enriquez and Drew Arellano hosted the mass wedding coverage of the event. It was held at Museo Valenzuela, Barangay Marulas last February 14, 2012. The wedding matrimony was solemnized by Mayor Sherwin Gathalian. There was an orchestra which made the “I Dos” and wedding kiss of the 45 couples more romantic. The Kasalang Barangay primarily aims to legally bind couples who are living together. This event was aligned to Valenztine’s Day Celebration and Valenzuela 14th Charter Day Anniversary.
Valenzuela City, Philippines – Kasalang Barangay ng Marulas was telecast live on the GMA7 morning show, Unang Hirit, with its host Susan Enriquez and Drew Arellano last February 14, 2012 at Museo Valenzuela, Barangay Marulas in line with Valentine’s Day Celebration and Valenzuela’s 14th Charter Day Anniversary.

Unang Hirit staff started their set-up at 2 o’clock in the morning. Unang Hirit gave a 4 o’clock call time for rehearsals of the ceremony but the excited couples went to the venue 1 hour early. “I’m very proud of Valenzuelanoes because whenever I “cover” here, there are no problems. Valenzuelanos deserve our help in Unang Hirit’s public service projects,” explained Shayne Therese Hontucan, segment producer of Unang Hirit.

“This event was originally scheduled on February 18, 2012 but because of the information gathered by our researcher about this event, we suggested to hold it on exactly Valentine’s Day as Unang Hirit needed a testimony about love, particularly the matrimony which led us to sponsor the event,” she added.

Allan Francisco, audio technician of Unang Hirit, shared his experiences in covering a Kasalang Barangay. This was his second coverage of Kasalang Bayan in his 3years of service. “In Malabon, Kasalang Bayan was sunny and a lot of couples joined while here at Valenzuela it was rainy and few couples participated. However, this event was very well organized unlike in Malabon,” he observed.

Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian, who solemnized the wedding vows said, “This was a very special event not just because it is our 14th Charter Day Anniversary and it is Valentine’s Day but because we are aired live on national television in coordination with GMA7 Unang Hirit show.” “The Kasalang Barangay primarily aims to legally bind couples who are living together,” Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian added. As the 45 couples exchanged “I Dos” and a lovely kiss, the orchestra played.
Mrs. Evelyn and Mr. Alfredo Domingo

This was an unexpected day for 37 years old bride Evelyn Clotario Domingo who had been living with Alfredo Domingo, 31, for 4 years. Their relationship was blessed with a two year old son. “We planned a church wedding actually this June but since they offered it to us for free, we decided to participate,” explained by Evelyn Clotario Domingo.

Celebrating with the newly-weds were City Councilors Adrian Dapat, Lai Nolasco, Cecille Mayo and Lorie Natividad-Borja, and Barangay Marulas SK Kagawad Janina Bautista. “In line with my birthday celebration and my projects as we advocate family life, this wedding was very special,” said Kagawad Bautista. “Finally we helped legalize the family foundation as we promote and establish the basic unit of society. My advice for the 45 newlyweds is these three things: respect, patience and the importance of God as the center of the family,” Councilor Natividad-Borja intimated.
